Manny Machado Has Great Value To Win The NL MVP

Superstar third baseman Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres has been one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball to start the season. After an impressive season, a year ago that saw him hit .278 with 28 home runs and 106 RBIs, it looks as if Machado is going to be able to continue at this type of play that he was able to produce with the Padres in 2021 during the 2022 season.

He’s currently hitting .365 with five home runs and 18 RBIs in just 96 at-bats. Throughout the first 25 games of the season, he is at the top of most Major League Baseball stats in terms of hitting.

Machado has a legitimate chance of winning the MVP award if he can continue playing at this type of level. Looking at the MLB spreads you could see if others agree that Manny is most likely to win the MVP award.

Manny Machado To Win The MVP +4000

With +4000 odds still to win the National League MVP, Manny Machado is going to have one of the best odds to put some money on. Considering that we can still get such great odds on sites like BetUS, it would make sense if bettors decided to throw a couple of dollars on this spread.

Let’s take a look at three reasons why Manny Machado can definitely be this year’s MVP.

1. Gold Glove Defense

One of the biggest reasons why Manny Machado could potentially win an MVP this season is because he’s playing Gold Glove-level defense once again at third base. He’s always been known to make some crazy plays at third base and that’s not changing this season. Not only can he make the tough plays look easy, but he also makes the routine plays easy. He doesn’t have many errors on routine ground balls and he’s always putting his body on the line to try to get an out.

Although his Fielding might not be the reason why he does win the MVP, it’s certainly not going to hurt.

2. Padres Are A Top Team

One thing to keep in mind with the most valuable player award is that some voters look at the team’s success. Machado isn’t going to have any issues with that considering that the San Diego Padres are one of the top teams in all of baseball.

They are in second place in the National League West, but they’re 16-9 and have won seven of their last 10 games. They might not win the NL West just because the Los Angeles Dodgers are that good, but if they can sneak into a wild-card game and Machado ends up in the playoffs, it’s only going to boost his MVP odds, which you can bet on with BetUS.

It is a weird thing that voters like to look at the MVP to carry his team considering how much of a team sport baseball is, but it’s a harsh reality of this situation.

3. Advance Stats Back Up His Production

One thing to always look at when a guy gets on a hot streak is to see if his advanced numbers back it up. He’s going to be coming into this one with max exit velocity that ranks him in the 88th  percentile in all of baseball, a hard-hit percentage that ranks him in the 88th percentile in all of baseball, and an xwOBA that sees him in the 97th percentile.

If he can continue to hit the ball hard just like he has throughout the first 25 games this season, there’s no question that those are going to result in hits just like they are now. Obviously, he will go through some stretches where he’s not going to be able to get rewarded like he is now because that’s just baseball, but he’s swinging the bat well and that should continue.
