Jeremy Renner Opens Up About Recovery, Shows Scars from Near-Fatal Snow Plow Injury

Jeremy Renner isn’t trying to conceal the physical scars from his life-threatening snowplow accident in January 2023.

In a recent interview that was published in the July or August edition of Men’s Health, the 53-year-old actor of Mayor of Kingstown discussed his ordeal of being hospitalized for 12 days after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowplow in Reno, Nevada, on January 1, 2023.

It pulls like a tank and undulates thanks to its four tire portions with metal tracks. “I remember every undulation,” he told the site, describing the terrible catastrophe. “I remember my head cracking on the thing and it just crushing on me – it’s exactly how you imagine it would feel.”An immovable object and a crushing force and something must give.”

“But I’m grateful my skull didn’t completely give,” he said. “Then it kept going. Undulate, undulate, and undulate. My cheekbone and eye socket fractured, and the crushing of being run over by the machine caused my eye to pop out. I could see my left eyeball via my right eye. “I was screaming for air.”

Renner said he was spending all his energy trying to breathe, but he couldn’t.

“There was no breathing happening,” he said. “It’s difficult to utilize your stomach muscles with 14 shattered ribs and a punctured lung. I was unaware of this at the moment; all I wanted was to get some air. I was running through my body’s checklist, trying to figure it all out.

“For the first five minutes, I focused on my breathing. I began to feel incredibly fatigued. My heart rate is getting lower and lower. He said, “Just this exhausting breathing for 45 minutes.” “But with tiredness, there was nearly tranquility. When the EMTs came, I realized I needed to hand over my corpse to them since I was dead. I am not getting up. These are not just cramps. “I am not going to walk back down the driveway to see my family.”

The actor repeatedly told himself to “focus on breathing” until EMTs arrived to save him. Although most of the subsequent hours and days are a fog, Renner recalls a helicopter journey and hearing the words “life support.” He spent 12 days in the ICU, describing it as “a f—ing disaster.”

“Everything was a disaster—showering, going to the restroom —“ he claimed. “Whooooooooo! They give you drugs to keep you from going to the toilet, which causes constipation. And you urinate in a container. It was terrible. You’re peeing in a plastic container, which indicates that things aren’t going well. It took me 17 minutes to get out of bed. I was thrilled to sit up, push myself into a chair, and walk about a little. But a shower — everything took about half a day.

I couldn’t get anything wet. Your hair becomes greasy and filthy, and you stink, but I had all these staples that couldn’t get wet, and I wasn’t willing to chance infection. So I took sponge baths.

Renner suffered more than 38 fractured bones in the collision, including ribs, knees, ankles, pelvis, face, and hands. He also had a collapsed lung, a perforated liver, and significant head trauma.

However, the Avengers star maintained a cheerful attitude during his protracted rehabilitation. “I need to become better than I was today. That is all that f—ing matters. “I am not setting a high standard here,” he told the site.

Since the accident, his slogan has been, “The only thing we can control in our lives is our perspective.”

Since then, Renner has been getting better and has been open about his experience on social media. He also said in October 2023 that he felt “very blessed and very lucky to be upright, walk around, and live life” more than nine months after the tragedy.

“I am absolutely clear.”My life is very lean if that makes sense,” he said. “There is no fat in my life anymore. I do not have time for it. There’s something extremely amazing about having that ability.
